NBC Looking for America’s Favorite Mom
Posted by Faith W on January 29, 2008
BURBANK, Calif. – January 24, 2008 – NBC will commemorate the century-old tradition of Mother’s Day with a nationwide search to find “America’s Favorite Mom” as the network, partnering with Reveille and Teleflora — the world’s leading floral service — will give proud children and adults across the country the chance to nominate their moms — and one inspirational mother will be crowned America’s Favorite on NBC’s special “Teleflora Presents America’s Favorite Mom,” for broadcast on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11 (7-8 p.m. ET), it was announced today by Craig Plestis, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials, NBC Entertainment.
“Partnering with Teleflora and showcasing America’s best moms on the ‘Today’ show creates the perfect platform to recognize these amazing women,” said Plestis. “We want to highlight America’s favorite mothers on a grand scale and give them the spotlight they deserve.”
The search began on January 7, when family and friends of inspirational moms began logging on to AmericasFavoriteMom.com to nominate their mothers. NBC, Reveille and Teleflora will look for inspiring mothers from all walks of life. Once the nominations are collected, the top-25 nominees will appear on NBC’s top-rated “Today” show throughout the week before the primetime television special, and viewers will have the chance to vote for their favorite mom at the end of each show.
Redbook and Hearst Magazines, the official national print partners of “Teleflora Presents America’s Greatest Mom,” will also recognize the nominees.
Those who log on to AmericasFavoriteMom.com can upload videos, photos and essay testimonials in support of their favorite mom. As part of the interactive experience, friends and families can vote for their favorite nominee and help them win exclusive online prizes.
After the nominees have appeared on the “Today” show and viewers have cast their vote on NBC.com, the winning mom from each day of the week will be featured on “America’s Favorite Mom,” the grand finale — a one-hour primetime NBC Mother’s Day special. At the end of the program, one mom will be crowned “America’s Favorite Mom” and a rose will be named in her honor. She will also receive thousands of dollars in cash and prizes, including an 18-carat, gold heart-shaped “America’s Favorite Mom” pendant trimmed with diamonds.
(The following is a press release from NBC)
Over 20,000 of Teleflora’s member florists will join the effort by sponsoring “America’s Favorite Mom” competitions in their local communities and reaching out to their PTAs, houses of worship, and other local organizations to collect nominations.
“America’s Greatest Mom” will be produced by Reveille, creators of award-winning hit shows such as “The Office” and “Ugly Betty.” Teleflora and Reveille will share executive-producing responsibilities.

Deion Sanders Reality Show Will Preview During Superbowl
Posted by Faith W on January 29, 2008
Get ready to be entertained (or not) by another show that looks into the family life of another person who has fallen out of the media limelight. Former NFL cornerback and Major League Baseball Outfielder Deion Sanders will be starring in a reality show with his family in Deion and Pilar: Prime Time Love on Oxygen.
The episode that will air during half time at the Big Game will be shown without commercials. According to Reality TV Magazine, “Deion refuses to help with housework because he is too busy working on his football picks for a live radio show. Deion’s wife Pilar issues a challenge that if she can do his radio job just as good as he can, then Deion has to help with the housework. Also, daughter Deiondra has a hot date, and a very over-protective Deion wants to help her get ready.”
Wow, sounds like a family sitcom without the script. Hopefully the show will be better than his singing.
