This week Bachelor Brad made the most unexpected and controversial decision in the history of the reality show by giving both finalists their walking papers in the season finale, and the show’s creator and producer, Mike Fleiss is not a happy camper.
On last night’s wrap show, After the Final Rose, the two jilted women, Jenni Croft and DeAnna Pappas were given the chance to vent and shed tears over the outcome of the show, and to confront Brad the Cad for the first time since he sent them packing. Brad’s overall explanation was still vague and lukewarm, kind of like, “You know, I woke up that morning all set to go out and propose. Then I went to buy the ring, and I realized I wasn’t in the mood. Screw it.”
Although he told DeAnna that he thinks about her a lot, he also said that he stands behind his choice, which seemed to break her heart all over again on national television. Needless to say, there were a lot of hurt feeling and angry people in the room. Certainly not what viewers have come to expect from one of the more romantic dating reality shows on tv.
Creator Mike Fleiss was interviewed by Entertainment magazine, where he revealed that the network did not know about Brad’s decision until the day of the finale. He said that it was a real buzzkill to shoot the final show, because usually there is a happy couple at the end. Although Brad gave ABC the same weak excuse that he gave the girls, it seems that Fleiss isn’t buying it. The speculation that he is still very close to his ex, Laurel Kagay and has a two year-old daughter was not mentioned in the interview.
